Paula Butterfield earned her MFA in Professional Writing from the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California. While developing college courses about women in the arts, she uncovered information about fascinating artists that was sketchy but so tantalizing that she felt compelled to find out more. Her debut novel, La Luministe, about Berthe Morisot, the sole female founder of the Impressionist movement, won a Chanticleer Book Reviews first place award for historical fiction. Paula lives with her husband and daughter in Portland. She is currently working on her next book about two rival American artists.
